Goodbye Sun, Hello Tan

I thought I would share one of my newest favorite things. In the past few years, I have become more conscious about protecting my skin. i.e. Wearing hats, mixing sunscreen in my facial moisturizer and hand cream, etc. Yes, I realize this should have been an issue years before, but let's face it, you are stupid when you are in your teens and early twenties. I was ignorant enough to think that I could burn my way to a tan. Well, I finally realized that wasn't going to happen and in the process, I have more than likely already caused myself some major skin damage. Too bad your wake up call has to come in the form of a sun spot on your face when you are twenty. But, better late than never, I suppose.

And lets not get me started on tanning beds. Yes, I've used them in the past, but remember, I was stupid then. I'm not trying to take the holier than thou attitude, but come on, with all the studies on protecting your skin and the dangers of tanning beds, it's amazing to me how many people use them.

Anyway, back to my current favorite product. Even though I don't like "sunning" or visiting the cancer beds, I still think I look the best with a little color, especially in the summer. So, the only other way to achieve the sun look is with self-tanner. Bless the inventors of the self-tanner. Last year, I made it my personal mission to find the best tanner for me. Everyone is different, but for me, I wanted one that would give me the most natural color with the less odor. After all, if you walk around with orange spots all over and smell like medication, what's the point? I want introduce you to my best friend: Lancome Flash Bronzer Tinted Self-Tanning Gel

Love, love, love it! Yes, it's pricey, $34.50 for a tube. But, you knew the good stuff would be. And, it will last me a whole summer, using it 2-3 times a week. It says it's leg gel, but I use the stuff all over, except the face. It has very little odor and gives me a bronze look. I can finally stop sporting the vampire look in the summer months. If you are a translucent pale, this might give you more color than you want. But for me, it gives me the color that I could naturally achieve, but only after a whole summer of laying out in the sun.

Tips if you decide to use it: Make sure to rub it in a circular motion like it says on the box. I have Clint apply it on my back (I told you I use it all over). I take a bath at night and exfoliate, then apply the lotion giving it time to absorb and dry before bed. That way in the morning, I can take a shower and not have any wash off.

Hey, Missy, you probably already do something for your face, but I use a similar product and a put a tiny dab in my palm and mix it with my moisturizer and it works wonderfully to give a natural glow to my face and neck too. ;)
