Washer Woes

Well, the inevitable happened. I knew it was only a matter of time. Our washer washed its last load. Honestly, we were lucky to have it at all. Our landlord so graciously left it for us to use. She wouldn’t accept any payment. So, we have used it for 4 months, but it finally gave out. (The dryer is still kickin’…knock on wood!) So, now we must set out on the oh-so fun task of getting another one. We have spent the last few days doing our research and went today to see what was out there. We even pulled out our Dave Ramsey cd on bargaining and getting the best deal and listened to it again. We of course have been weighing the options of getting a used one versus a new one with a warranty, but NOT an extended warranty (a no-no in Dave’s world.) At this point, we are pretty sure we want the standard top loader instead of the front loader b/c of a few factors but mainly cost. We have checked out consumer reports, but it mostly lists the higher priced models. So, my question for you guys is what brand/model of washer do you have and would you recommend it? Any help appreciated!

You should check out the Sears "scratch n dent" place here in Nashville. They have some pretty good deals. When we went we looked and honestly couldnt find anything wrong with most of them. We never bought there because we had a specific thing we were looking for. It might be worth the drive or they might have one closer to your area.

We went thru the same thing like a week before Emma was born. We just bought the standard Whirpool top load washer at Patterson's scratch n dent here. We got it for nearly nothing and they cover it for a year. I love it. Good Luck!

We have a washer and dryer that Trey's parents so graciously gave to us. They gave it to us, however, so they could get a new one because the washer absolutely sounds like a rocket getting ready to shoot through the roof during the spin cycle. But it's free and it still does the job. You just can't hear the tv or carry on a conversation during the dreaded spin cycle. Good luck!

Scratch and Dent is the way to go!!! We always go to Lowes for our house and the rental house. Both sets we have bought have been great and lasted for 2 years with no problems. They are nothing fancy, but they do the job. Good luck girl!!

You might also look on craig's list. I am a craig's list junkie. I have bought a brand new couch on there and a brand new pair of boots for nearly nothing!! They have washer after washer listed! May be worth it to check it out!

We bought our set from my sister who was going thru a divorce after a year of using it and it has lasted us 7 yrs, don't want to curse ourselves tho, lol. It is ge, but anytime i buy appliances i usually check out the used stores first you can get real good deals and they last a while.
