Meet me in St.Louis

I’m here in St. Louis for the National Association for Campus Activities national convention. Cool conference, not so cool location. This being my first time in St. Louis I am a little disappointed. Not to put down the home of the Cardinal or the Gateway Arch, but it seems rather…how should I say this, dirty! I have quickly found out (not by experience but by hearsay) that it has a very high crime population. Shouldn’t really surprise me. I mean, who knew Clarksville had a huge gang population? Not me, until we moved there. Anyway, at least I can say I have been here and I can check it off my list of places to visit. (And make a side note not to visit again.)
I am learning a lot at this conference. I have had the opportunity to meet many new professionals in the field such as myself. It’s great to hear their stories and be able to relate. What makes this conference so cool is that artists get to showcase their talents and we get to see a preview of what they have to offer if we book them for our campus. Each year the conference always brings some big names to perform. Quite a few musicians, comedians, and lecturers have gotten their start at NACA. A few of my favorites so far: Caroline Ray and Howie Day. I also heard Lance Bass from N’Sync and Darryl McDaniels from Run DMC speak. There have also been some really great “up-and-coming” bands that have performed. I will be here until Wednesday, so I am excited to see and hear all the other performers.

Caroline Ray

She is HILARIOUS!
Our crazy students!

Mr.Belding from "Saved by the Bell." Who by the way told me that he almost went to Austin Peay to play basketball until he decided to go to Chatt. State. Not sure if that was a smart move Mr. B!

How awesome that you got to meet Mr. B!! Brad and I were flipping through channels last night and landed on SBTB. We ended up watching it and laughed our heads off! And we thought that was quality television! Ha! I bet it was incredible to see all of those people.
